I tell my clients to eat a protein or fat or both when they eat a food or drink that has carbohydrates. This reason for this is the carbohydrate will be digested slower into sugar. This is especially important for people with blood sugar issues. Remember excess blood sugar can be turned into triglycerides/fat or into cholesterol. Even when trying to lose body fat this tip is very important to follow. Many of us in the fitness industry definately follow this when trying to lean down for a competition.
