HEALTHY BREAKFAST

BREAKFAST
Yesterday I wrote about deciding what your health, fitness and eating goals are. Let's begin this change by focusing on changing your breakfast from unhealthy to healthy.

BREAKFAST SUGGESTIONS:

A:  2 slices sprouted grain bread with 1-2 eggs. Fry the eggs in olive oil with vegetables or
hard boil them. Put a little bit of BUTTER (not margarine) on your bread.

B:  scoop 1/2 cup dry OLD FASHIONED oatmeal and cook with 1-2 packets of stevia.

What Are Your EATING & EXERCISE GOALS

It's a NEW YEAR so what is your GOAL!
Take a moment and think about your eating, health, and/or exercise goals.
-what do you want to achieve?

Ask yourself "what will I need to do to reach this goal?"
-if you don't know then educate yourself by searching on the internet or asking someone who has knowledge about how to reach your goal.

Set a realistic plan.
-set yourself up for success by working towards your goal in a way that is workable for you

Stay FOCUSED & DETERMINED to reach that goal.

HEALTHY FOOD vs JUNK "food"

A few days ago I was in a college class and during the break I noticed that a lot of the students were eating JUNK "food processed with chemicals.  It made me think about how many people are continually eating unhealthy things while not really thinking about how damaging they can be to their body.

One of my goals when I work with people is to have them understand the conceptthe purpose of eating is to give the body the nutrients it needs.HEALTHY FOOD is made up of nutrients our body can use to make us feel and look healthy.

Eating At Night

Tonight my niece told me that her friend said that it's bad to eat after 5:30 pm.   My niece has been around me enough to have a decent understanding of  how to eat.  My niece told her friend that she  would be too hungry if she didn't eat at after 5:30 pm.

I, too, often hear people talk about not eating after a certain pm hour.  The body does need a consistant supply of nutrients to keep running. If the body is hungry at 9 pm it is asking for food.

Cholesterol & Carbohydrates

I have been getting a lot of traffic to my website from people searching "cholesterol and carbohydrates." I've blogged  and I have written about this topic in my book.  I will visit it again, though.

Carbohydrates are things like: bread, crackers, chips, yams, potatoes, beans, rice, cereal, fruit, juice, candy, sugar, honey  and so on....

When you eat a carbohydrate the body will break it down into sugar. This sugar goes into your bloodstream.

The body will use the sugar for energy.

2 Healthy Snack Ideas

Below are 2 healthy snacks.  Try cutting out junk "food" snacks at least 1 time a day and replacing
it with 1 one of the following:

1. apple or orange or 15-20 grapes with 20 almonds

2. 2 cups air popped popcorn with string cheese or 1 oz of white cheese.

Lemony Olive Oil Dressing

SIMPLE/EASY Recipe:
Drizzle olive oil on lettuce
Squeeze fresh lemon juice on lettuce
Sprinkle a little bit of garlic powder on lettuce
Sprinkle a little bit of sea salt on lettuce

Mix all ingredients into the lettuce.

ENJOY!!!

Flavoring Plain Yogurt

To avoid consuming artificial sweeteners or added sugar when eating yogurt try the following:

Plain Yogurt (cow, sheep, or goat)
Add stevia 1 packet at at time until you achieve desired sweetness.
You can add extracts (vanilla, coconut, etc) &/or blended berries to add flavor to the yogurt.

I like to top my yogurt with walnut pieces.

Enjoy!

All Fat Has Saturated Fat

Many times I hear people say that saturated fat is bad and that it should be avoided.  Most people do not know that any natural fat consist of monounsaturated, polyunsaturated and saturated fat. A natural fat is any fat that is not man made such as nuts, avocados, olive oil and so on.

A fat is classified as:
Saturatedif there is more of this in the fat than the other two fats.
Monounsaturatedif there is more of this in the fat than the other two fats.
Polyunsaturaedif there is more of this in the fat than the other two fats.

Cholesterol: Don't eat carbohydrates alone.

I tell my clients to eat a protein or fat or both when they eat a food or drink that has carbohydrates. This reason for this is the carbohydrate will be digested slower into sugar.
This is especially important for people with blood sugar issues.

Remember excess blood sugar can be turned into triglycerides/fat or into cholesterol.

Even when trying to lose body fat this tip is very important to follow. Many of us in the fitness industry definately follow this when trying to lean down for a competition.
